Prime Minister’s Community Business Partnership welcomes the retention of the ACNC

Australian Charities and Not-for-profit Commission

The Prime Minister’s Community Business Partnership welcomes the Minister for Social Services, the Hon Christian Porter MP and the Minister for Small Business and Assistant Treasurer, Kelly O’Dwyer’s announcement to retain the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC).

The Partnership strongly supports the ACNC and believes its continuance is in the nation’s interest. The Partnership wrote to the Minister in July 2015 to express these views and support the ACNC’s ongoing role.

The Partnership forged a strong working relationship with the ACNC in 2015 over its shared goals, in particular the pursuit of reducing unnecessary red tape and other barriers to a strong and thriving charitable sector and fostering philanthropy in Australia through giving and investment.

We look forward to working with the ACNC in 2016 to eliminate burdensome red tape and streamline sector regulatory approaches, including harmonising fundraising regulation and cutting red tape for volunteers.
