Meeting of non-Government members of the Prime Minister’s Community Business Partnership

The non-Government members of the Prime Minister’s Community Business Partnership (the Partnership) convened on 1 April 2016 to discuss recent progress and agree next steps.

Since the full Partnership meeting in November 2015, the Partnership has actively pursued a number of key issues aimed at increasing levels of philanthropy. These include: the need for a hybrid legal model for organisations wanting to pursue both a social and financial return, how levels of social procurement in Australia might be increased, whether the Deductible Gift Recipient Framework is meeting 21st century needs and development of innovative giving structures.

The Cultural and Indigenous Research Centre Australia (CIRCA) provided a presentation to members on its draft report: Volunteering and Giving in Multicultural and Indigenous Communities.

Partnership members are continuing to work together closely to develop coherent and evidence based policy recommendations for Government consistent with the Partnership’s Terms of Reference.
