Forums will be held in six locations across Australia during August and September bringing together CALD and Indigenous peaks, policy makers and practitioners to discuss strategies for more inclusive volunteering and giving practice.

The forums build on findings from Giving and volunteering in culturally and linguistically diverse and Indigenous communities, undertaken by the Cultural and Indigenous Research Centre of Australia (CIRCA) and commissioned by the Department of Social Services.

An initiative of the Prime Minister’s Community Business Partnership (the Partnership), the forums will be hosted by CIRCA in partnership with community organisations in Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Shepparton, Darwin and Sydney. Partners include the Red Cross, Ethnic Communities Council, Volunteering Victoria, the David Wirrpanda Foundation, the Interfaith Network, St Vincent De Paul and the National Centre for Indigenous Excellence.

Key topics to be discussed are challenges to and enablers for participation, effective engagement with diverse communities and opportunities for collaboration with the not-for-profit and philanthropic sectors.
