The Prime Minister was elected to Federal Parliament as the Member for Wentworth in 2004.
After graduating from Sydney University with degrees in Arts and Law, the Prime Minister won a Rhodes scholarship and completed a further law degree at Oxford.
During and after his studies, the Prime Minister worked as a journalist. He began legal practice in 1980.
In 1987 the Prime Minister established his own investment banking firm and during that time co-founded a number of Australian companies.
The Prime Minister was Chairman of the Australian Republican Movement from 1993 to 2000.
On 6 December 2007, the Prime Minister was appointed as Shadow Treasurer and following a leadership ballot in September 2008, he was elected by his colleagues to lead the Liberal Party as Leader of the Opposition, a position held until 1 December 2009.
The Prime Minister was the Minister for Communications from September 2013 to September 2015. He was elected the leader of the Liberal Party and Prime Minster on 14 September 2015.
The Prime Minister and Lucy live in Sydney and have two grandchildren, Jack and Isla.
